Lots of Changes . . .

Much has been changing. I'm in the process of packing up and moving from Redondo Beach, CA to South Carolina! Message me if you want details, but it's just time for a change. I'll never truly 'leave' my girls or my family and friends - thank God for social media! Why South Carolina? Mainly because I've never been . . . and I'm curious (as usual).
I've retired from my job at my beloved Magruder Middle School. It was also the 'right' time for that. I'm still adjusting to being a non-working individual. I've worked since I was 12 years old, so it's a little weird! I feel like I'm almost redefining myself! My Bella-Mia has been helping me see my way more clearly.
I was retired about 33 minutes when the idea for a new book (well, not a 'new' idea) popped into my head, grabbed me by the throat, threw me into my chair, and said, "WRITE ME!" Thus, I finally got out onto paper my long-thought-about book on the difference between brain health and mental health. One set of identical twins, yet different as night and day!
I've also just completed a series of three new children's books. The yarn takes place in the children's play yard at the Friendship Academy which is actually next door to the school I worked at (Magruder). Between my school and the Friendship Academy stands the most magnificent tree which I always called "Mother Tree." She stands so majestically and protectively in the yard, seeming to watch over the children who played beneath her loving boughs.
In my imagination Mother Tree is populated with many different 'neighborhoods' of birds, each one different and unique. Each flock (or neighborhood) of birds have their own traits and thoughts and the fellow who spreads the news is a sprightly little squirrel called, Mr. Opie.
The first neighborhood visited is the home of the gentle Mourning Doves, the second is the mischievous Blue Jays, and the third are the pompous and loud Ravens! Each group is unique and as you will see, each has very definite opinions! It was so much fun getting to know each neighborhood and the bird within them.
Next time I write, it will be from South Carolina so, I'll see you then!
